Air India CEO Campbell Wilson submitted his resignation earlier this week as part of a planned transition, four years after taking charge of the newly privatised, erstwhile national carrier. Mr. Wilson will continue till the Air India Board constituted committee finds and appoints his successor in the coming months.
Mr Wilson’s tenure was a demanding one, tasked with steering the airline through the course of its privatisation and years of under-investment. The airline placed a landmark order for 470 aircraft and launched a fleet-wide retrofit programme, which is now complete for the domestic fleet, with work on the Boeing 787 underway and 777 to start early 2027.
