The North Zone squad celebrates its triumph

North Zone won the J.K. Bose inter-zonal T20 tournament after another emphatic win against East Zone at the Roshanara Cricket Ground on Monday. The tournament was held as part of the Golden Jubilee edition of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) national convention in the national capital.

North sealed the title by stitching together an unbeaten run in the competition. On Monday, North chased down 136 in 9.5 overs. Rishabh Singh smashed an unbeaten 87, and finished with 289 runs in the competition. In the other match of the day, West defeated South by 10 wickets at the Delhi Police Ground.

SJAM-1 paddlers reign

Meanwhile, Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai (SJAM-1) emerged champion in the team event of the A.C. Bali Table Tennis Tournament at the Roshanara Club.

SJAM-1 defeated the Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA-1) in the final. The winning SJAM-1 team comprised Amol Karhadkar and Ashwin Ferro while DSJA-1, represented by Bharat Sharma, Kushan Sarkar and Norris Pritam, finished runner-up.

Karhadkar also enjoyed a successful outing in the individual event. He won the men’s singles title, finishing ahead of K. Keerthivasan of the Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists Association.

The scores: East Zone 135/6 in 20 overs (Pranab Shil 47 n.o., Abhishek 39 n.o.) lost to North Zone 136/0 in 9.5 overs (Rishabh Singh 87 n.o., Akash Rawal 31 n.o.).

South Zone 97 in 18.5 overs (V.L. Sashank 34, Deep Sudhakar 4/13, Taus Rizvi 3/13) lost to West Zone 98/0 in 13 overs (Taus Rizvi 53 n.o., Devendra Pandey 36 n.o.).
