Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) Group Captain Shubanshu Shukla and his crew members are on track to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere and splash down off the coast of San Diego at 3:01 p.m. (2:31 a.m. PT) on Tuesday (July 15, 2025), SpaceX said.
Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew members departed from the orbiting laboratory on Monday (July 14, 2025) onboard the SpaceX Dragon. The Ax-4 crew members’ return journey to Earth commenced at 4:45 p.m. IST as the Dragon autonomously undocked from the forward-facing port of the ISS’s Harmony module and would conclude with a splashdown off the California coast on Tuesday.
SpaceX said that following a series of orbital manoeuvres after undocking, the spacecraft would reenter and make a splashdown. “The spacecraft will now execute a series of departure burns to move away from the International Space Station. Dragon will reenter the Earth’s atmosphere and splash down in ~22.5 hours off the coast of California,” the agency said in a post on X.

Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla completed all seven microgravity experiments before leaving the ISS. “Gaganyatri Shubhanshu Shukla has successfully completed all seven microgravity experiments and other planned activities, achieving a significant milestone in the mission. Experiments on Indian strain of Tardigrades, Myogenesis, Sprouting of methi and moong seeds, Cyanobacteria, Microalgae, Crop seeds and Voyager Display have been completed as planned,” ISRO said on Monday (July 14, 2025).
The journey back to earth would take about 22.5 hours.
