The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) will support five lakh people, mainly women and those from scheduled caste/scheduled tribe communities, get into digital selling platform in the next three years.
Vidya Sagar Singh, Senior General Manager (Digital Services Facilitation) of the NSIC, told The Hindu on Saturday that the Central government has allocated ₹277 crore for the MSME TEAM (Trade Enablement and Marketing) scheme and the NSIC is the implementing agency of the three-year scheme. About 50% of the five lakh beneficiaries will be women or those from SC/ST communities.
“They will get end-to-end support to get into the digital platform for selling their goods or services,” he said.
Micro or small enterprises in the manufacturing or service sectors, except trading, with UDYAM registration, can register for support. These units can be in the business to business or business to customer segment and the registered data will become part of the respective seller network of the ONDC. The seller network will get financial support under the Scheme to assist the micro or small-scale enterprise prepare digital catalogues, learn account management, and packaging and transporting the goods. The subsidy amount will differ for each beneficiary depending on its requirement, he said.
The NSIC will set up a call centre, conduct more than 160 workshops in tier-two and tier-three cities and towns, prepare digital catalogues and support the beneficiary in digital marketing.
Mr. Singh said the NSIC has written to the State governments to promote the scheme through the district industries centres. It will also have meetings with industrial associations.
The NSIC will conduct an awareness programme in Erode on January 30 and in Coimbatore in February.
