Passenger vehicles (PV) segment in January 2025 reported 1.6% Year on Year (YoY) growth in domestic sales at 3,99,386 units while Three-Wheelers grew by 7.7% compared to January of previous year at 58,167 units. Two-Wheelers grew by 2.1% YoY with sales of 15,26,218 units as per data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Thursday.
The total production during January 2025 was 25,46,643 units, up 9.3% over the year ago period.
Total domestic sales grew 2.5% YoY to 19,35,696 units. In the PV category passenger car sales dropped 8.2% to 1,57,300 units while the Utility Vehicles (UV) segment saw 13.1% growth in sales at 2,63,971 units. Van sales dropped 6.5% YoY to 12,279 units.
During the month total vehicle exports skyrocketed 40.2% to 4,62,500 units.
“The recent Union Budget announcements prioritising long-term economic growth and particularly the personal income tax changes and reduction in interest rates by the RBI would help in boosting consumer confidence and drive demand in the Auto Industry,” said Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM in a statement.
