Jenna Ortega, Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, and Barry Keoghan in stills from ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’

The trailer of the upcoming English thriller, Hurry Up Tomorrow, starring Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan, was released by the makers today. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the film is set to release in theatres on May 16.
Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd, stars as Abel, a popular pop-star struggling to keep it all together. Things take a crazy turn when a fan, played by Ortega, holds Abel hostage at his apartment. “A musician plagued by insomnia is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence,” reads the plotline.
The film’s plot is based on an original idea from Abel, who has also co-written the screenplay with Shults and Reza Fahim. Abel, Fahim, Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss serve as producers while Ortega and Shults serve as executive producers.
Notably, Abel’s forthcoming album is also titled Hurry Up Tomorrow; it serves as the final chapter of his trilogy, which includes After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022).
Shults is best known for directing It Comes at Night (2017), starring Joel Edgerton, and Krisha (2015), which stars his real aunt Krisha Fairchild. His most recent film was 2019’s Waves, starring Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Taylor Russell, and Sterling K Brown among others.
Ortega, meanwhile, is best known for her popular turn in Tim Burton’s Wednesday, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, X, Scream, and The Fallout. Keoghan is best known for starring in Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin and The Batman. The Weeknd, who has previously appeared in Uncut Gems, co-created and starred in the HBO series The Idol.
