India’s ace shuttler and multiple Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu, who endured a relatively subdued 2025 season due to injuries, said she is now match-fit and raring to go.
The forced break, Sindhu revealed, proved beneficial as it allowed her to work on her skills and overall game under the guidance of Indonesian Irwansyah Adi Pratama who is the Indian women’s singles coach.
In a media interaction on the sidelines of a store launch, the 30-year-old reflected on the importance of staying physically and mentally strong. She highlighted how time away from competitive badminton allowed her to reassess her training methods, fitness routines and tournament planning.
“Firstly, I am in a good mental space now, and everything is progressing in the right direction,” said Sindhu.
“Obviously, I have to be a little smarter in terms of the kind of training I do, the fitness routines I follow and the exercises I choose. You have to be smart enough to make the right decisions. It becomes crucial to select which tournaments to play and which ones to skip. That is very important,” she said.
“Every day is a new learning experience. There are always new strokes, new skills and new aspects to learn. For me, it is imperative to stay strong both mentally and physically, and I’m focusing on progressing one step at a time,” Sindhu added.
