Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat is looking forward to making his Pro Wrestling League (PWL) debut and returning to the Asian championships after two years before building up for the Asian Games in 2026.
Having seen the rise of his senior Chhatrasal Akhara mate Ravi Dahiya from the PWL platform to securing Tokyo Olympics silver medal, the 22-year-old Aman, who was a 16-year-old when the PWL was last held in 2019, awaits a first-hand experience of the league.
“When the last edition of the PWL happened, I was a kid. I saw Ravi making his mark in the league. Such competitions help you get rid of nerves one usually experiences in bigger competitions. One can learn and improve by spending time with big wrestlers,” Aman told The Hindu after winning the National title in 61kg here.

Aman takes pride in being a product of the famous Delhi-based akhara, which also produced several Worlds and Olympics medallists, including Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia, and acknowledges its contribution.
“I saw how the big wrestlers, such as Sushil and Bajrang pehlwan, trained and won. That raised my aspirations and confidence.”
Aman, a 57kg Asian champion in 2023, is clear about his 2026 plans. “My preparations are on track. Last year I could not compete in the Asian championships due to a minor injury, but I will participate this time. Of course, the Asian Games is a major competition.”

After getting suspended for being overweight at the World championships in Zagreb and later receiving a much-needed relief, Aman has grown wiser.
“Some things are not in our hands. I had stomach issues (prior to the Worlds). I will give my 100% and try to keep my weight under control beforehand because anything can happen in a competition.
”Due to the weight issue, I could not compete for some time. I participated in the Nationals to prepare for the PWL. The competition was good, as per my expectation,” said Aman, without any complaints even though he injured his left eyebrow during a bout here.
