Perhaps seeking a closure of his differences with a group of trustees led by Chairman Noel Tata, Tata Trusts trustee Mehli Mistry has written to Tata Sons seeking to protect the reputation of the trusts.
“He has written to Chairman, Tata Sons saying he does not want any controversy that could damage the trusts,” a person familiar with the development said.
This comes days after he reportedly visited the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner’s office to file a caveat that he must be heard before being ousted as a trustee of Tata Trusts indicating he was ready for a confrontation.
Mr. Mistry, a close friend of late Tata Group former chairman Ratan Tata and a businessman who maintained a low profile, was ousted as a trustee when three trustees did not approve his reappointment as the three-years term was nearing an end.
He was appointed as a trustee of the Tata Trusts in 2022 and has been seen raising a banner of revolt against Mr. Tata and some other trustees in the past few months, leading two Union Ministers to intervene.
